Ted Egri’s Estate

The Legacy of Ted Egri (1913–2010)

For over a decade, Elise Waters Olonia has supported the legacy planning and placement of the work of Taos artist Ted Egri, whose creative life spanned sculpture, painting, and public art. In 2015, Elise conducted a comprehensive fine art appraisal of more than 1,100 works across media, documenting a lifetime of artistic contribution. Since then, her ongoing work has focused on honoring Egri’s vision through thoughtful donation, installation, and curation.

From 2017 to 2024, Elise facilitated the donation of Egri’s sculptures to several institutions, including the Taos Economic Development Center, Sierra Vista Cemetery, Taos County, the Taos Public Library, and UNM-Taos, Klauer Campus. In 2017, she also coordinated Ted Egri Day, a community event marking the installation of Flight of Wind at the Taos County Courthouse.

Most recently, from 2023 to 2025, Elise has served as curator of the UNM-Taos Klauer Campus Art Walk, overseeing the restoration and placement of Egri’s public sculpture—ensuring his work remains present, accessible, and meaningful within the Taos community.

This long-term collaboration reflects the careful stewardship and strategic planning that artist estates require, as well as Elise’s deep commitment to legacy, context, and cultural continuity.
